Frequently Asked Questions

Our couples counseling addresses a wide range of relational struggles, including recovery from infidelity and betrayal, intimacy anorexia, sexual addiction, communication breakdowns, emotional disconnection, and rebuilding trust after disclosure. We offer both outpatient couples sessions and intensive couples formats for deeper, concentrated work.

Standard couples therapy often focuses on communication and conflict resolution. Betrayal-trauma- informed counseling recognizes that when one partner has experienced the trauma of infidelity, addiction, or deception, the injured partner's trauma responses must be addressed first. Rushing into couples work without acknowledging this trauma can retraumatize the injured partner. Our approach ensures both partners receive what they need to heal individually and as a couple.

Yes, many marriages do survive and even grow stronger after infidelity or addiction when both partners are committed to the recovery process. Healing requires honesty, accountability, and sustained effort from both partners. Our therapists have walked alongside many couples through this journey and have seen deep restoration become possible when both partners fully engage in the work.

Couples counseling is most effective when both partners participate. However, individual therapy often runs alongside couples work so each partner can address their own healing needs. In cases where one partner is not yet ready or willing to participate, individual counseling can still bring significant healing and clarity to the other partner.

A couples intensive is a concentrated, multi-day therapy format that accomplishes in a few days what might otherwise take months of weekly sessions. Intensives are ideal when a couple needs deep, focused work — especially after a recent disclosure, when facing a critical decision point, or when weekly sessions have not provided sufficient traction.
