The life unlived

I'm afraid of the life unlived

The child inside me who hollers at echoes

And sits cross-legged, to wait.

My time gets short

And I want to rest, to listen,

But the child inside me who runs in circles, and plays with his paints,

Won't rest.

My body doesn't work

And I want to laugh, and others laugh with me,

And the child inside me who laughs at everything and everyone,

Knows that I'm lonely,

Knows that you're lonely,

Knows his God, our truth,

And wants, so badly wants, to laugh with you.
